Cardboard Boat Races

Winterset Aquatic Center

Join Winterset Parks and Rec at the aquatic center for some fun racing! For this event, you must make a boat out of only cardboard and duct tape, no cheating! Paddle can be used to steer the boats. This event is free, but registration is required.


Ice Cream on the Hill: Marching Band Preview Show

Thursday • August 8 • 6:30pm
Madison County Historical Complex

School doesn’t start for another three weeks, but fall sports teams and activities like marching band, will head back to the hallowed halls for practices and rehearsals starting next week! And on Thursday, the Husky Marching Band will give the first preview of their fall show, The Raven, accompanied by ice cream!


Rumba Classes

Thursdays • August 8, 15, 22, 29 • 6:30pm
Winterset City Park, South Shelter

Lace up your dancing shoes and learn how to Rumba! These are free dance classes and you don’t even have to bring a partner.

It’s bitter sweet when this event hits the calendar. On the one hand, the doggies are jumping for joy for their annual chance to take a dip. On other the other hand…the end of the pool season signals the final few days of summer and ‘back to school’ is just around the corner. Either way you slice it though, seeing doggies paddling the pool is a lot of fun!
