Our friends (and sponsors!) at Graham’s Game Café are ready to help you celebrate the conclusion of another school year. The arcade and board game cafe will be opening early at 1:00 so kids can head straight there after school if they want—and it’s just 2 blocks from the elementary school. WASC Free 3v3 Tournament for ALL Ages

Winterset Soccer Fields (E. Court)

Winterset Area Soccer Club (WASC) invites all players and families to their spring end-of-year event on May 25th. Arrive by 8:45 and the games will begin at 9:00.

-Upon arrival, you will be put into a lottery to be split into teams of 4 players (3 on the field with 1 sub).
-You will play two 12 minute halves
-Highest score wins or first to 12 goals.
-There are NO goal keepers or offsides.
-Each team will have a minimum of two games: if you continue to win you will move through the winners bracket. Once a team loses, they will move to the losers bracket. If a team loses twice, they are out of the tournament.

Memorial Day Service

Winterset Cemetery

Memorial Day is dedicated to remembering those Military Veterans who have passed. The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts in Winterset will be conducting Memorial Day services to honor our departed Veterans. Activities for Memorial Day weekend include:
Friday, May 24th, 9:00am – the American Legion will be placing flags (over 1,100) at the Winterset Cemetery on Veterans’ gravesites and will also place white crosses by the Soldiers Monument for those veterans from Madison County who were killed in combat. Citizens are welcome to help with this honor.
Sunday, May 26th, 7:00am – The VFW and American Legion will be placing the Avenue of Flags lining the roads in the Winterset Cemetery honoring departed veterans. This year there will be over 620 flags flying to honor these veterans. Volunteer help is appreciated and following the placing of these flags, the VFW Auxiliary will be serving breakfast for those helping.
Monday, May 27th – There will be a parade at 10:00am with Veterans, Auxiliary members, and citizens proceeding to the cemetery from the Legion Hall. All Veterans and citizens are invited to be part of the march. We will have vehicles available for veterans unable to march but who want to be part of the parade. The parade will stop at Monumental Park where the VFW Auxiliary will place a wreath and have a brief ceremony. The main ceremony will begin approximately at 10:30am near the WWI Soldiers Monument in the Winterset Cemetery where the WHS Marching Band will play patriotic songs. This year, John Shaull of Winterset will be the keynote speaker. In case of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be held at the Henry Miller Auditorium beginning at 10:30am.

In preparation for their summer sessions, Madison County Music Co. is offering several FREE “Try it Out” sessions of Kinder Choir and Music Together Classes in the next couple of weeks. Kinder Choir is for 4, 5 and 6 year old musicians to sing, dance, & play. Music Together classes are for children 6mo-4yo with an adult.

Winterset Community Band Lawn Chair Night

The Winterset Community Band will be back in action starting Thursday, May 30th, with their summer concert series. Concerts start at 7:00 with the option of coming early for a meal. This week a beefburger meal will be served to benefit History on the Hill. Jennie & David Hargrove will provide music during intermission.

Winterset Ballet & Dance

Summer camps are not only fun for current dancers, but also great way for children who don’t currently take dance lessons to try it out. Winterset Ballet and Dance is offering a wide variety of classes for ages 2-10.

Twinkle Bear’s Storybook Adventures
Ages 2,3 – June 11-13-10:00-10:30, $20/day
This camp is a perfect way to introduce little ones to dance in a fun way with dance incorporated into a storybook adventure.

Princess Magic Dance Camp
