Downtown Winterset

The day after Thanksgiving, celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season in downtown Winterset! Merchants will have lighted and live action window displays starting at 5:00pm. Venture into the warm, cozy stores on the square to find unique gifts for everyone on your shopping list! The lighted parade will start at 7:15pm with everyone’s favorite jolly ol’ elf on the last float of the parade. There will be a table on the courthouse lawn to write a letter to Santa. See “Elf” at the Iowa Theater following the lighted parade—FREE admission with the donation of a non-perishable food item for local food pantry.

Holiday Lights on the Hill

November 24th – January 1st
Madison County Historical Society

Load up the car and take a drive on the museum complex loop to enjoy lights and displays throughout the Madison County Historical Complex. This is a free event but donations in the mailbox are always appreciated to help defray the costs.

Show your local love by shopping the Winterset downtown square and other businesses and enjoy special holiday festivities throughout the day.

7:00 – 11:00am – Fuel up with a pancake breakfast at the American Legion Hall hosted by the Winterset Kiwanis.
10:00am – 2:00pm – Enjoy a FREE horse-drawn carriage ride around the courthouse square. (gratuities accepted)

Enjoy this timeless holiday classic about a young girl, Clara, celebrating Christmas with her family, the Stahlbaums. When she receives a Nutcracker from her Godfather, Herr Drosselmeyer, this sets off a memorable evening of magical events and characters.

Winterset Ballet and Dance Studio will present six performances of The Nutcracker from December 9-December 11 at the Iowa Theater. Holiday Tour of Homes

Benefiting CRISP

Tickets are now on sale for the Christmas Tour of Homes and 100% of the ticket sales go to CRISP. The mission of CRISP is to guide families to resources that will enhance the well being of children and families. They work to ensure greater family stability and ready to learn children. A few of the programs that the Tour of Homes will help fund include: School supplies for kids, Winter Wear 4 Kids, and Christmas for kids. Other programs they assist include help with utility/rent payments and working closely with The Paw Pantry to provide additional food source for families. When you purchase your ticket you will get to tour 7 amazing homes AND help CRISP fund their programs.
