Weekend in Winterset • October 14

In true weekend-after-the-festival style, there’s not a whole lot happening this weekend. However, if you can handle scary movies (I canNOT), the Iowa Theater has you covered with It and It: Chapter 2, and the Winterset Public Library is still pumping out great community-focused programming!

This Weekend

It

Friday • October 14 • 7:00pm
The Iowa Theater

Seven young outcasts in Derry, Maine, are about to face their worst nightmare — an ancient, shape-shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27 years to prey on the town’s children. Banding together over the course of one horrifying summer, the friends must overcome their own personal fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty clown known as Pennywise. 2017, Rated R, 2hr 15min

It: Chapter 2

Defeated by members of the Losers’ Club, the evil clown Pennywise returns 27 years later to terrorize the town of Derry, Maine, once again. Now adults, the childhood friends have long since gone their separate ways. But when people start disappearing, Mike Hanlon calls the others home for one final stand. Damaged by scars from the past, the united Losers must conquer their deepest fears to destroy the shape—shifting Pennywise—now more powerful than ever. 2019, Rated R, 2hr 49min

Beginners Sketch Class

Saturday • October 22nd • 1:00 – 5:00pm
Winterset Art Center

If you have ever said, “I can’t even draw a straight line,” or something of the sort, this class is for you. Students will be introduced to basics: how to hold pencil, type of paper, types of lines, erasing techniques, etc. with the goal of learning how to draw what you see, not what you think you see. This class is for adults (age 18+) and the fee is $40 ($36 for WAC members).

To keep cost of the class as low as possible, materials are not being provided. Participants should bring several #2 pencils, a large newsprint pad, and are invited to bring their own drinks and snacks.
