Re:home is open this weekend too, starting today, and two more weekends in November!
The WHS High School Drama and Music Departments are teaming up to produce Oliver!, the award-winning musical adaptation of the classic Dickens’ novel, Oliver Twist. Performances are Friday and Saturday, November 4th and 5th at 7:00 pm in Miller Auditorium at WHS. Buy your tickets early if you can, as they plan on selling out these two shows. You can purchase tickets in advance by emailing Jon Barrett at jbarrett@winterset.k12.ia.us. Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students. You may also use your activities pass to see the show, if you have one: just email your reservation to Jon Barrett and then bring your activities pass with you to get your ticket the night of the show.
There will be over 120 students on stage for this production of Oliver!. Main roles include Shaylan Phillips as Oliver, Trevor Kems as Fagin, Jocelyn Hoven as The Artful Dodger, Maxwell Wangler as Bill Sikes, and Amanda Riley as Nancy. Supporting roles include Gracie Daniels as Bet, Konner Wills as Mr. Bumble, Bekah Nau as Widow Corney, Lane Bindel as Mr. Brownlow, Garrett Livingston as Mr. Sowerberry and Sydney Lowe as Mrs. Sowerberry.
The show’s producers noted, “This big of a production could not be put on without the help of many volunteers. Chris Bertelson designed and built the set, Craig McMann designed lights, Meisha Sible designed and found costumes for over 120 students, and Megan Barrett designed and taught choreography. The vocal and band boosters also support the show with their time and talents.” Oliver! is directed by Meredith McKay, with musical support by Jon Barrett and Pam Schroeder.
