They receive help from Rufus (George Carlin), a traveler from a future where their band is the foundation for a perfect society. Auditions: A Gift for Rebecca

The Winterset Stage at Madison County Music Co.

The Winterset Stage has announced this year’s holiday production, A Gift for Rebecca. The play was written by John Claes, a playwright from Ankeny.

It is Santa’s first year in retirement. Unimpressed with the new system in place at the North Pole (under the direction of his former apprentice and new CEO), Santa recruits his wife, his loyal stable attendant, and his trusted team of reindeer to go on one last mission to respond to the wish of an unhappy girl in foster care who doesn’t believe in him.

To audition, sign up at the link below. You only need to attend one of the sessions and you don’t even need to prepare anything! Script excerpts will be provided for readings. We welcome actors of ALL experience levels!

Performance dates are November 20-23. Most rehearsals will be on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Schedules will be provided in advance so that if you are not needed at a rehearsals, you do not have to attend, but it is important that you are able to attend at least 90% of rehearsals. History on the Hill o’ Beans

Madison County Historical Museum

The Madison County Historical Complex’s next monthly Hill O’ Beans Coffee gathering will feature the topic “Indian Artifacts of Madison County.”   The free, hour-long presentation will be held Tuesday, September 9 at 9:00 am in the museum’s lounge. 

Iowa archeologist Kathy Gourley has been volunteering for several months and working with museum staff to identify a collection here that she first encountered over 40 years ago. Come see the artifacts and hear of the progress being made.

Hill O’Beans presentations are held on the second Tuesday of each month (except October).  Museum staff or collaborators share a historic topic and invite you to share your insights.  You will learn something unexpected while enjoying coffee and treats.
