Lion’s Soup Supper

Take the night off from cooking at the 22nd Annual Lions Club Soup Supper next Monday. The menu will include potato, vegetable beef, and creamy chicken noodle soups, plus chili and possibly some new recipes. There are no tickets necessary, just bring a free will donation.
You can also bring along your clean, dry plastic bags (or any plastic wrapping/film) to be recycled into benches. (There’s one in front of Covered Bridge Realty on the west side of the square.) The Lions also collect and repurpose used hearing aids and complete eyeglasses.

The day after Thanksgiving, celebrate the beginning of the Christmas season in downtown Winterset! Merchants will have lighted and live action window displays starting at 5:00pm. Venture into the warm, cozy stores on the square to find unique gifts for everyone on your shopping list! The lighted parade will start at 7:15pm with everyone’s favorite jolly ol’ elf on the last float of the parade. There will be a table on the courthouse lawn to write a letter to Santa. See “Elf” at the Iowa Theater following the lighted parade—FREE admission with the donation of a non-perishable food item for local food pantry.

Tickets are now on sale for The Winterset Stage’s next production: It’s a Wonderful Life. This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.

Benefiting CRISP
Tickets are now on sale for the Christmas Tour of Homes and 100% of the ticket sales go to CRISP. The mission of CRISP is to guide families to resources that will enhance the well being of children and families. They work to ensure greater family stability and ready to learn children. A few of the programs that the Tour of Homes will help fund include: School supplies for kids, Winter Wear 4 Kids, and Christmas for kids. Other programs they assist include help with utility/rent payments and working closely with The Paw Pantry to provide additional food source for families. When you purchase your ticket you will get to tour 7 amazing homes AND help CRISP fund their programs.
