Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Week is April 12-17.
This is a time when local Extension and Outreach offices celebrate and thank their communities and partners for all of their support. Madison County Extension will be giving away 100 FREE sack lunches (made by the Cellar) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm this Friday, April 16th. These are available to anyone that stops by the Madison County Extension Office, 117 North John Wayne Drive in Winterset, between 11:00 and 1:00 on Friday. Be sure to swing by and get yours while supplies last!
ISU Extension and Outreach is part of the federal Cooperative Extension Service — a network of more than 100 land-grant institutions, including Iowa State University, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture serving communities and counties across the United States. Every county in Iowa has an elected extension council that decides how to support ISU Extension and Outreach educational programs at the county level.
For more information about ISU Extension and Outreach, visit www.extension.iastate.edu or contact your ISU Extension and Outreach county office.
Happy Extension and Outreach Week!

Magic of Madison County Virtual Variety Show
Friday • April 30th • 7:00pm
The Winterset Stage

For 70 years, the Winterset Lions Club entertained our community with their spring variety show. In 2020, the Winterset Stage was working with the Lions Club to assume responsibility for the planning and production of an updated version of the show and then…COVID struck!
It’s still not safe to gather 500 viewers in the WHS auditorium, so this year The Winterset Stage is going to gather the talent and bring it to you!
How does it work?
All of the acts will be pre-recorded, individually, in a COVID-safe setting. They will then be edited into the final production and shared through a virtual broadcast on April 30th. And, thanks to the magic of green screen technology, it will look like these talented members of our community are performing for you from magical locations across Madison County!
How to Watch
There are three prices for tickets, depending on who is actually viewing:
- SINGLE viewer – $5 – purchase two if you’re a couple
- One FAMILY – $20
- WATCH PARTY – $30 – gather some friends or another family and watch together. Of course, we want you to be COVID responsible!
Purchase a ticket online from The Winterset Stage. When you checkout, you will be required to enter your email address. The show link will be emailed to you by Friday, April 30th at Noon.
