Welcome to The Citizen, and thank you for reading! This blog was started as The Winterset Citizen in November of 2013 by Julie Feirer as an outlet for editorials and events about Winterset, Iowa. Megan Barrett & Meisha Sible purchased and started operating the blog in 2019. In 2020, Meisha moved to the Pacific Northwest and Megan continue her authorship until February of 2026 when The Madison County Chamber of Commerce began ownership.
New posts on The Citizen are published once per week. Every week on Thursday or Friday, a post provides a lineup of events that are happening that weekend an beyond. This information comes from what people submit to TheWinterstCitizen@gmail.com, as well as what we see and hear on Facebook, business and organization websites, mailing lists, posters, and more. If you have an event you would like to invite people to attend, please feel free to contact us. Most events are included at no charge.
