Weekend in Winterset • December 18

Tonight

It’s a Wonderful Life

Thursday • December 18 • 7:00pm
Throwback Thursday at The Iowa Theater

This is one of my mom’s favorite Christmas movies…although she’s seen the beginning about fifty times and the end only about a dozen. Any other moms relate to this? 🙋🏼‍♀️

George Bailey has so many problems he is thinking about ending it all – and it’s Christmas! As the angels discuss George, we see his life in flashback. As George is about to jump from a bridge, he ends up rescuing his guardian angel, Clarence – who then shows George what his town would have looked like if it hadn’t been for all his good deeds over the years. Rated PG, 2 hr, 10 min

• You don’t need an easy “get the kids out of the house” solution
• You’re not interested in stress relief via games and laughter
• You want to save your sanity for later

Otherwise… arcade games, food, and a little holiday escape await at The Warehouse on 2nd and Graham’s Game Café.

Winterset, the movie

December 19 & 20 • 7:00pm, December 21 • 2:00pm
The Iowa Theater

Winterset’s silver screen fame continues with this latest Indie crime drama, filmed in Truro and Winterset 2 years ago. Michael P. Blevins, the writer, producer, and director of the film, will be in attendance on Friday.

In the town of Winterset, Iowa, three poor farmers decide to recruit a city slicker to help them pull off a heist: stealing bags of cash from a wealthy ranch owner. The plan quickly goes awry when the money’s true owner, a dangerous individual, shows up to reclaim the cash. The film is directed and written by Michael P. Blevins and stars Martine Beerman, Robert Coppage, and Robert Craighead. Rated R, 1 hour 55 min
