Beekeeping 101 Workshop
Thursday, April 9, 5:30pm
ISU Extension Office

Interest in beekeeping continues to grow as more people look for ways to support pollinators, harvest their own honey, and explore a unique and rewarding hobby. To help beginners get started, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Madison County will host a Beekeeping 101 Workshop on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
This two-hour introductory workshop will be led by an experienced agricultural specialist and is designed for individuals who are curious about backyard beekeeping or considering starting their own hive. Participants will learn the fundamentals of beekeeping, including basic hive structure, necessary equipment, and what it takes to successfully maintain bees.
“Bees are one of the most incredible creatures on the planet,” said agricultural specialist Zachary Koopman. “The more you learn about this complex insect beyond their great-tasting honey, the more fascinated you become.”
Beekeeping can be an enjoyable hobby, a way to support local pollinators, or even the start of a small honey-producing venture. This workshop will provide participants with practical knowledge to help them decide if beekeeping is the right fit for them.
The workshop will take place Thursday, April 9, 2026, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Madison County Extension Office, 117 North John Wayne Drive in Winterset. A light meal will be provided.
The registration fee is $20 per person, and space is limited. Pre-registration is required.
Participants can register online at:

Happy Birds, Happy Humans: how we co-exist together
Human actions shape the lives of wild birds every day. Habitat loss, window strikes, outdoor cats, pollution, and climate change all take a heavy toll, often injuring or displacing birds that depend on us more than ever. But coexistence is possible. By protecting natural spaces, keeping cats indoors, making windows bird-safe, reducing litter, and being mindful of how we use our land and water, we can reduce harm and create safer places for birds to thrive. Small choices by people can make a life-saving difference for wildlife.

Micro Retreat at Iris Aisle
Wednesday, June 10th, 5:30-8:00pm

Details:
MICRO RETREAT INCLUDES: REIKI INFUSED, CEREMONIAL CACAO, BREATHWORK JOURNEY, SOUNDBATH, LIGHT-LANGUAGE, INTEGRATION CIRCLE AND WARM SOUP.
Why the combination? Cacao, Conscious Connected Breathwork and Sound Healing?
Cacao allows us to drop deeper into our heart spaces.
Often times we stuff BIG feelings in our bellies and bodies. This may feel like a ‘safe’ response in the moment since it masks an option to really deal with our emotions; Yet doing this can actually be detrimental to our emotional well-being and physical health.
One way to connect with and release the emotions that we have stored in our body is to focus on our breath. By relaxing our bodies fully and turning off the chatter in the mind by focusing on our breath in a quiet meditative state, we can tap into the genius of our body!
The breath guides deep deep wounds to surface and finally be release in a healthy, safe way.
Experience a deep connection to your Breath and your Body. Clear the stored programing that is holding you back in your life purpose and creation.
