Finding Iowa Ancestors
Thursday • May 22 • 6:00pm
Winterset Library

Researching the genealogy of Iowa ancestors is fascinating, frustrating, and rewarding. Why did they leave their home country? How did they arrive in the US? Where did they travel to reach Iowa? If you are interested in genealogy, come explore research strategies and record locations. A lot of needed information is not online and overlooked sources can provide the most valuable data.
Our Iowa ancestors faced unique circumstances in deciding to emigrate from their home countries. They reacted to local conditions and the heartbreaking choice to leave family and friends. People had to learn the emigration and immigration processes for travel costs and political requirements. Starting over in a new land meant culture shock.
Join us to explore the factors resulting in the arrival of our relatives into Iowa. Anyone interested in genealogy is welcome to attend.
The Producers
Thursday • May 22 • 7:00pm
Throwback Thursday at The Iowa Theater
Down and out producer Max Bialystock (Zero Mostel), who was once the toast of Broadway, trades sexual favors with old ladies for cash contributions. Max’s new accountant Leo Bloom (Gene Wilder), offhandedly muses that if Max found investors for a new production that turned into a flop, he could legally keep all the extra money. The duo begins to put together the worst play possible, titled “Springtime for Hitler”, with a terrible director and a hippie-freak star. 1967, Rate PG, 1 hr 28 min
