Chase of Des Moines, who represented the majority interest for 35 years on the Boards of Directors of Farmers & Merchants State Bank and Bancorp.  Raising the matching $25,000 will secure this pledge!!

We’re still in need of contributions or pledges of $13,875 to reach the match . We can do this!!

Free Tree Giveaway

Tuesday • April 22 • 3:00 – 5:00pm
Winterset Parks & Recreation at Winterset Hy-Vee

With the support of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Community Tree Recovery program, Hy-Vee, Inc. along with Winterset Parks and Recreation will be distributing 50 trees next Tuesday.

The Arbor Day Foundation is the world’s largest membership nonprofit dedicated to planting trees. The Foundation’s Community Tree Recovery Program identifies and helps communities affected by natural disasters by relying on an extensive network of local community tree-planting organizations. “In the wake of natural disaster, trees can be the promise of hope a neighborhood needs in order to heal,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “By replanting trees, local planting partners are taking meaningful action to foster resiliency in their communities and lay the roots of a greener future.”

These new trees will be free of charge and help to replace trees damaged and destroyed by the March 2022 tornado. The Arbor Day Foundation’s Community Tree Recovery program, a national program underwritten by FedEx and Foundation members, aims to replace trees in communities affected by natural disasters throughout the United States. The program has helped distribute more than 5.3 million trees since its inception in 2005.
