Community Band “Lawn Chair Night”

Thursday • June 16th • 6:00pm Dinner, 7:00pm Concert

The Winterset Community Band has grown considerably from this picture that was taken several years ago. Don’t miss hearing them at at least one of their concerts this summer!

The Winterset Community Band will entertain us again tonight with the third of five concerts, all to take place on the lawn of the historic Bevington mansion on the grounds of the Madison County Historical Museum. This week, the Winterset Kiwanis will serve a meal of pulled pork sandwiches, chips, pie or a bar, and tea or lemonade at 6:00pm, followed by the concert which will begin at 7:00.

Beer Choir

Thursday • June 16 • 7:00pm
Madison County Music Co & The Drift

Beer Choir is a social singing event open to all, no talent required! It’s so simple—you get a beer, get a seat, and song leaders Jon & Megan Barrett will guide you through hilarious drinking songs from the official songbook, the Beer Choir Hymnal! There is no cost to attend and the drink special of the night will be the “Perfect Fourth” Flight—a 5 oz serving each of four pre-selected brews.

Of course, non-beer drinkers are also welcome. (The Drift has a great selection of wines, cocktails, appetizers and soft drinks.) And if you just want to drink and listen, you’re welcome, too, but don’t be surprised when you end up joining in the singing!

Community Worship Service

Sunday • July 3rd • 10:30am
Winterset City Park, North Shelter

Members of the Winterset Ministerial Alliance are planning a community-wide Christian Worship Service to take place on Sunday, July 3rd. Participating churches include First Christian, First Presbyterian, First United Methodist, Foursquare Gospel and St. Paul Lutheran but all are welcome. The offering from the service will be donated to CRISP.

The service, which will encompass both traditional and contemporary worship styles, will take place at the North Shelter in City Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair although limited seating will also be provided. Following worship, all those in attendance are invited to stay for a potluck lunch. Sandwiches will be provided by the Madison County Cattlemen and you can bring a side dish or dessert to share. Assistance will be available for anyone who may have trouble walking from the parking lot to the shelter.

An ecumenical choir is being formed to participate in worship. Rehearsals for that group will be Wednesday, June 29th, 7:30pm at the First United Methodist Church, and Sunday, July 3rd, 9:30am at the city park.
