To celebrate their 10th season, Winterset Ballet and Dance Studio is bringing back the ballet that started it all, The Lion King! In addition, senior dancer, Mia Kerr, has created a themed recital A Night at the Movies. And don’t forget the littlest Twinkle Babies and moving Daddy Daughter dance.

  • Friday, May 13, 7:00 pm – Winterset Ballet and Dance ballet dancers perform a full ballet of The Lion King, followed by a themed recital A Night at the Movies showcasing tap, hip-hop, jazz, and modern dance genres.
  • Saturday, May 14, 10:30 am – The littlest dancers, the Twinkle Babies make their stage debuts, along with a heartfelt Daddy Daughter Dance, plus some encore dances from A Night at the Movies.
  • Saturday, May 14, 2:00 pm – The ballet dancers again take the stage for The Lion King followed by a tribute to senior dancer, Mia Kerr.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2

After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove that he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns with a new partner, Knuckles, in search of a mystical emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. 2hr, 2min, PG


Instrument Petting Zoo

Winterset Public Library

The Winterset Public Library will be hosting Madison County Music Co. and their Instrument Petting Zoo. Kids (and an accompanying adult) will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of instruments. At 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00 there will be 15-minute group presentations. Join Linda Griffith Smith as she shares Winterset Cemetery Stories. Winterset’s cemetery is the largest in Madison County and the most active for burials, visits, and genealogical inquiries. It serves as the backdrop to sorrow, county history, Veteran commemorations, high school classes, and physical fitness. This session will look at all these facets and provide a few of its most intriguing stories.


Winterset Rotary John Wayne 5K Walk/Run

Starting line at the John Wayne Birthplace & Museum

Winterset Rotary is proud to one again host the annual John Wayne 5K Walk/Run. What a wonderful way to celebrate Duke’s birthday beginning with a healthy walk/run through beautiful Winterset. Run with friends, walk with your family & enjoy our historic square and covered bridge in City Park on the race route. Proceeds benefit Winterset Rotary youth projects including the Inclusive Playground, Scholarships and CRISP. 


Madison County Airing of the Quilts

Ladies Tea Party

Madison County Historical Complex

Mark your calendars for this exciting June event. Moms and daughters (ages 3-12), and their grandmas, are invited to dress up in their fanciest outfits, and join us for a morning of tea and light refreshments on the lawn. The event will include Victorian lawn games, a photo opportunity and a look through the museum exhibits. Cost is $10/adult and $5/child, and space is limited. Further details and a sign up will be coming soon. In case of inclement weather, the tea will be held inside the museum lounge.
