Iowa Quilt Museum

The Iowa Quilt Museum has just opened a new exhibit with bright bold colors. Midwest Modern is a collection of modern quilts from the last decade that were made by quilters who primarily live and work in the Midwest. The Iowa Quilt Museum is open seven days a week, 10:00 to 4:00 on Monday through Saturday and 12:00 to 4:00 on Sundays.

Easter Egg Hunts

New Bridge Church

New Bridge Church and Rose Acres Farms are teaming up to present an Easter Egg Hunt complete with food, games, and fun activities for everyone. Hot dogs will be served starting at Noon, and kids can enjoy the balloon artist and face painting from 11:30 to 1:30. A sensory egg hunt will be held at 11:00 am and the ‘main event’ egg hunt is at 1:00pm.

If you’re looking for something to fill the upcoming no-school day, join in on this program at the library to create and build with LEGOs and other blocks. Engage in a challenge, make a LEGO craft, color, play a LEGO game, or check out of their LEGO books. LEGOs will be provided and no registration is required.

Tickets are on sale now for The Winterset Stage’s production of The Odd Couple, Female Version. Showtimes are April 21, 22 and 23 at 7:00pm, and April 24 at 2:00pm.


Glimpses of the Iowa Capital: Its History, Art, Architecture and Restoration

Thursday • April 21st • 6:00pm
Winterset Public Library

Take a tour of Iowa’s Capitol with former state restoration painter, historic researcher, and author Rosa Snyder as she divulges untold stories, shares little-known historical anecdotes, and reveals hidden treasures of Iowa’s most recognizable landmark. View several before-and-after photos, visit rooms not normally seen by tourists, and observe the step-by-step restoration process.


Release of Hootie the Owl

Friday • April 22nd • 7:00pm
Pammel Park Campground

You may remember that a screech owl was rescued in Madison County in January. Since then, local rehabber, Beth Brown has been caring for the owl and it has now regained its strength and now it’s time for Hootie’s big release back into the wilds of Madison County!

The Madison County Conservation Board invites the community to join them at the Pammel Park Campground the evening of Earth Day for this special event. Madison County Emergency Management Director, Diogenes Ayala, will join the celebration and share information about the tornado recovery and then release Hootie. Information will be shared about the new Conservation Center, owls in Iowa, and the night will close with a S’mores Smorgasbord. Ted Lare will be providing a limited supply of native prairie plants for attendees to take home. Bring lawnchairs and a beverage of your choice. Thanks to Fareway, there is no charge for this event.


Madison County Wedding Showcase

Say “I Do” to Madison County, too! Come see all the beauty Madison County has to offer for your nuptials. This wedding showcase will include local vendors featured in the following industries: cakes, wedding apparel, jewelry, music, catering, venues, and more!


Adult Acrylics Class

Sunday • April 24th • 3:30 – 5:00pm
Winterset Art Center

This interactive adult acrylic painting class is designed for all skill levels. Tips and techniques will be demonstrated as Wildlife Artist Tomas Miller guides the class through painting a wood duck. Each student will be supplied with a Masonite panel, use of paints and brushes. Supply fee $10.
