Buddy (Will Ferrell) was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa’s elves. Unable to shake the feeling that he doesn’t fit in, the adult Buddy travels to New York, in full elf uniform, in search of his real father. As it happens, this is Walter Hobbs (James Caan), a cynical businessman. After a DNA test proves this, Walter reluctantly attempts to start a relationship with the childlike Buddy with increasingly chaotic results

The December lineup at the Iowa will feature a host of holiday favorites!

Shop Small Crawl

November 28th through December 5th

The Saturday following Thanksgiving is observed as Shop Small Saturday in communities across the country, Winterset included. This year, however, the downtown community is expanding from one day to a week-long Shop Small Crawl! Starting on Saturday, November 28th, many of the downtown businesses will have treats, steals and deals. As you shop you can enter to win a special grand prize drawing—a one-night stay for 2 at the new Winterset Wonderland Air B&B.

Shop Local this Christmas!

When you shop at locally-owned and operated businesses for your gifts this season, your giving goes even further. Shop Local and make a BIG impact in our community!

These businesses are being featured because they are Winterset Citizen sponsors but I encourage you to visit ALL of our local businesses to see what they have to offer!

Coming Soon

Madison County Women’s Giving Circle
Fourth Quarter Meeting

Monday • 12/7 • 6:30pm
Online via Zoom

Due to Covid-19 concerns, the 4th quarter Madison County Women’s Giving Circle meeting will be an on-line Zoom meeting and instead of heir annual 4th quarter Christmas party, with contributions going to the Foundation, this will be a regular meeting with local charitable 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profits or other qualifying tax-exempt organizations presenting information about their projects for supporting women and children in Madison County.

Those who wish to present must contact Jacque Mohs either by email at jacmohs@aol.com or by phone at 515 468-1899 on or before Thursday, December 3, 2020, to be entered in the drawing to present at this meeting.  We ask that each applicant provide a brief description of their project, tax-exempt status, an email where they can be reached and a mailing address that can be shared with members.

If there are more than 3 applicants, 3 presenters will be chosen by a random drawing.  Those presenters will be allowed 4 minutes to talk and 4 minutes for follow-up questions and answers. Members will vote to determine which group receives MCWGC’s contribution this quarter.

Applicants who are not one of the 3 presenters will be allowed 2 minutes to give a brief description of their project or service and 2 minutes for questions and answers.  Jacque will confirm with each applicant by Friday, December 4th and will give them instructions for presenting and for joining the Zoom meeting.

Ester Mae Cox will send information about the Zoom meeting to members.  Any questions from members should be addressed to her: missestermae@gmail.com

CRISP Candy & Nuts

CRISP needs your help! They have a good supply of nuts & candy remaining after they filled the original orders for their fundraiser. Usually they sell the “extras” at the hospital, but this is not possible this year due to rising COVID numbers. Please call Amy Nolan at 515-462-7009 if you would be interested in making a purchase!
