Help Needed!

CRISP and the Paw Pantry need donations

Since early March the Paw Pantry has passed out over 1,000 boxes of food to people in need in our area. They receive some food each week from the Food Bank of Iowa and have been able to supplement with meat, dairy, and fresh items due to the generous donations of members of our community.

They would like to continue to provide quality food boxes for the rest of June and possibly into July (if donations allow). Please consider making a donation to help them continue this effort!

Checks can be sent to CRISP at 210 W. Green St., Winterset.

Great Madison County Scavenger Hunt

TOMORROW • June 20th • 2:00 – 5:00

Do you crave some fun in these times of social distancing? Are you looking for something different to do with Dad on Father’s Day weekend? Do you just need to get out of the house and enjoy our beautiful community? The Madison County Chamber of Commerce has the answer with the Great Madison County Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, June 20 from 2:00-5:00 pm to search, scavenge, and socially distance from your car. The event is organized through the Chamber’s Facebook page and it’s easy to participate!

First, organize a team, choose a clever name, and register on the Chamber’s website at www.MadisonCounty.com. You’ll need to mark yourself as “Going” on the Facebook event, now live on the Chamber’s Facebook page. On the day of the event, post a photo your team and announce your team name right on the event page. At exactly 2:00 pm the Chamber will release the list of items on the scavenger hunt, and teams will have 3 hours to find as many items on the list as possible. Post photos of the team finding the items in the comments of the team’s original photo post, and search for as many as you can! At 5:00 pm, head over to Winterset City Park and for a meal provided by Fareway Grocery Store and the Madison County Pork Producers! Teams may take their meals home to enjoy or have a picnic in the park.

The winning team is the one who accumulates the most points by visiting the most sites, plus bonus points for the most creative team name. Entry fees are $30 for teams of 2-3, $50 for teams of 4-6 people, and $55 for teams of 7+. The price includes 3 hours of safe social distancing fun, prizes, and dinner.

The Chamber hopes to see many teams of families, friends, or co-workers out enjoying the Madison County community (from 6 feet away, of course). You can register and pay online here.

Madison County Airing of the Quilts

Saturday • June 27 • 10:00 – 4:00

The Iowa Quilt Museum is also forging ahead with their annual event, the Madison County Airing of the Quilts. In its third year, this community-wide quilt show celebrates both beautiful quilts and the beauty and history of Winterset and Madison County. Quilts will be on display in over a dozen locations around our community including the courthouse, Monumental Park, City Park, and four of the covered bridges.

Tickets for this event are $20 and are available through the event website. Once you purchase a ticket, you’ll be emailed a printable ‘ticket’ that includes a map of all of the display locations. This event has become a unique draw for quilters and other visitors to the area and a main source of financial support for the Iowa Quilt Museum. In past years, the event has concluded with a live quilt auction fundraiser. In lieu of an in-person event, they’ve moved their auction online this year. There are nearly twenty items in the auction catalog which can be viewed here.

Community members are encouraged to display quilts on the exterior of their homes on June 27th! Let’s really help them make this a community-wide colorfest of quilts!
