John Wayne Matinee Series at the Iowa Theater

The Iowa Theater will screen classic John Wayne movies this summer, offering one Saturday afternoon matinee each in June, July, and August. First up is “Fort Apache” from 1948 on June 24. Next is 1949’s “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon,” screening on July 29, and “Rio Grande” (1950) to end the series on August 26. Doors open at 1:30; movie start time is 2 p.m. All tickets are $10.

“With the Iowa Theater and the John Wayne Birthplace Museum both located on John Wayne Drive, we decided it would be fun to give people special opportunities to see ‘the Duke’ on the big screen,” said Rebecca Fons, movie programmer for the theater.

“I couldn’t be happier,” commented Brian Downes, JW Birthplace Museum director. “These are iconic Wayne pictures, and the Iowa Theater is the perfect place to watch them.”

Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.the-Iowa.com/JWmatinee.
