At least five times each year, Winterset is treated to a patriotic display featuring hundreds of flags proudly waving around the community. This tradition is carried out by the Winterset Optimist and Lions Clubs, and Boy Scout Troop 121. The number of flags has increased over the past several years and the groups now put out close to 1000 flags. This labor day weekend, 110 new flags will be placed in the City Park thanks to the two generous families sponsoring them.  The Robert and Velma VanScoy family have sponsored 60 flags and will do so for the next three years.  An anonymous family will sponsor 40 flags for the next year.  If another individual or family would like to sponsor flags in the City Park, contact Dan Nielsen: dnielsen@americanstatebank.com. There is room for another 30-40 flags in the City Park.  It will be beautiful!

First Steps in Music

Tuesdays at 4:45pm starting September 14th
Thursdays at 10:30am starting September 16th
Winterset Public Library with Madison County Music Co.

First Steps In Music is a parent and child (ages 2-4) class that consists of 30 minutes packed with singing, dancing, playing instruments and other musical development activities. In other words, 30 minutes of pure musical fun!

Fall term classes will take place at the Winterset Public Library on Tuesdays at 4:45pm and Thursdays at 10:30am. This session will be seven weeks long and participants will find the most enjoyment if they attend all (or most) weeks. Advanced registration is not required but helpful. Register online using the button below or call the library at 462-1731.

Parents do NOT have to be musical themselves in order to enjoy helping their child make music!
