Buy Snacks, Support CRISP!

CRISP Nuts & Candy Fundraiser through October 15th

It is nuts and candy time again at CRISP! This is our main fundraiser and we need your help! CRISP relies on donations and fundraisers, such as this, to support ALL of our programs and operations. Funds help us to provide our basic programs (School Supplies for Kids, Winter Wear for Kids and Christmas for Kids) as well as assist families facing crisis situations (such as homelessness, utility disconnection, food insecurity, etc.). Please help us to continue these efforts! Visit our website at www.WintersetCRISP.org to view the Terri Lynn nuts and candy brochure and to print your order form OR call the CRISP office at 515-462-7009. Please submit orders and payment to CRISP at 210 W. Green Street by October 15th. Thanks for your consideration!

The two older instructional buildings in our school district, Winterset Elementary and the Junior/Senior High School, have undergone some MAJOR renovations and additions in the past year. I shared some pictures a few weeks ago and now you have the opportunity to see the facilities for yourself—and you really should! The renovations were handled really well and the buildings look quite impressive.

Everyone who attends the open house will need to be wearing a face covering.

Quilts of Valor Benefit Garage Sale

Friday • 9/18 • 11:30 – 4:00
Saturday • 9/19 • 9:30 – 1:00
More Pieces Retreat Center, 110 S. 1st St (across from the Cellar)

Quilts of Valor is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor. The national organization is made up of local groups of quilters that make the quilts and, in many cases, award them in their own communities.

The Piece Works Quilt Shop Quilts of Valor Group here in Winterset consists of over 60 members and has awarded more than 550 Quilts of Valor in the past three and half years. In order to support their continuing work (the average quilt costs at least $100 in materials alone!), the group is holding a ‘garage’ sale of quilts, table runners, home decor, colored thread, fabric, patterns, scrap-booking stamps, CD’s, books, chairs and more.

This is a great way to support the mission of Quilts of Valor if you’re not a quilter!

Finally

MCHS Seeking Feedback from Citizens!

Madison County Historical Society (MCHS) is in the process of completing a strategic plan and a major piece of this process is community input. MCHS is here to serve Madison County and we want to know what you think,” says Jared McDonald, Museum Director at MCHS.

Therefore, MCHS is asking Madison County citizens to complete a Community Survey. The Community Survey is available online through the middle of September and will help MCHS understand the needs of the Madison County community in order to make changes and improvements to the museum.

I completed the survey and it took me just about five minutes. I encourage you to take a few minutes to provide your feedback as well!
