The Iowa Theater will reopen Wednesday, June 3! They will proceed through the month of June with shows each week on only Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 7pm.

For your safety and theirs, the staff at the Iowa will be wearing masks. Patrons are strongly encouraged to wear masks when in the lobby, the restroom and when entering and exiting the theater.

Capacity is limited to 31 seats total and purchasing your tickets in advance online is encouraged. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at rebecca@the-iowa.com

Here’s the schedule for the month of June:

Winterset Public Library

Curbside Pickup on Tuesdays and Thursdays

The Winterset Public Library is reporting that their first week of curbside pickup was a great success and they were able to fill over 275 requests for books and movies. If you’d like to get some new materials, you can place holds through their online catalog using your library card, call the library at 515-462-1731, or email library@winterset.lib.ia.us

My family took advantage of curbside pickup yesterday and it was easy peasy!

Iowa Quilt Museum

Re-opening on Monday, June 1

With a few modifications, the Iowa Quilt Museum will be re-opening for visitors on Monday, June 1st. Hours will be shortened a little bit Monday through Saturday with some appointment visits available as well. They are open seven days a week.

Summer Conservation Camps

Online Registration Happening Now

Madison County Conservation is offering a variety of summer camps again this year with some changes that will make them look a little different from years past. All camps will be run entirely outdoors with pick up and drop off located in the picnic area next to the nature center. All camps will focus heavily on outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, bird watching, frog catching, exploring Middle River, and more. There will also be outdoor based games and crafts. Group sizes will be limited this year to maintain the 10 or fewer guidelines with campers and staff.

As of May 26, there were just a few spots remaining:

Night Owls 2 (Ages 8-12) – 3 Spots
A Day in the Park (Ages 7-12) – 6 Spots
Critter Camp (Ages 5-7) – 1 Spot
Salamander Camp 1 (Ages 5-7) – 3 Spots

To view a listing of summer camps or register online, visit MyCountyParks.com. Please call the Madison County Conservation office with summer camp questions at 515-462-3536 or send an e-mail to naturalist@madisoncountyparks.org.

Virtual Art with Winterset Parks & Recreation

Friday • June 5th

The Winterset Parks & Recreation is joining the hordes of organizations that are finding the need to think creatively about how to offer virtual programming right now. We think they’ve come up with a great idea in this Virtual Art (Watercolor & Calligraphy) project.

Participants can choose from one of these three different designs and complete the project with a guided video composed by local high school artist Carli Clifton. Once registered you will be notified when to pick up your art supplies for these projects and sent the link for the guided video. Email your completed project to davisr@cwmu.net so we can display them on our Facebook page. The $15 feel includes all of the supplies you will need for the project. Registration ends June 1 and can be found online through the Winterset Parks & Recreation.
