NE Madison County Christmas Bird Count
Thursday • 12/19 • 7:00am – 5:00 pm
Madison County Conservation
Volunteers are needed! Join the 5th Annual Northeast Madison County Christmas Bird Count on Thursday, December 19th. Madison County Conservation is now seeking volunteers to participate in this year’s Christmas Bird Count. The count involves counting birds seen while traveling in vehicles and while walking through the natural resource areas. Teams of birders (all levels welcome!) will split up to cover different areas of the count circle, keeping a tally of which species and how many are observed. It’s a great way to explore the Madison County countryside and enjoy the company of fellow birders!
7:00 A.M. Meet at Winterset Hy-Vee Market Grille for breakfast, divide into teams, and receive maps and data sheets.
12:00-1:00 P.M. Meet at (location TBD) for lunch and to share what birds were seen in the morning.
5:00 P.M. Meet at Madison CCB Headquarters to turn in data sheets.
Volunteers may choose to volunteer for the entire day, morning only, or afternoon only. If you live within the Madison County Circle, you may participate by counting birds that visit your backyard bird feeders during that time and reporting the information to the conservation board.
If you would like to participate in the Christmas Bird Count, contact Steve Pearson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 515-462-3536. Volunteers will receive more detailed information soon.
