Mayor’s Bike Ride

Saturday • June 1 • 8:00am
Meet at Winterset Aquatic Center

Join Mayor Olson for a leisurely ride from the Winterset Aquatic Center to City Park and back this Saturday morning. The purpose is to bring awareness for the need of a biking/jogging/walking trail and the Winterset Police Department, Winterset Optimist Club and the Winterset Parks and Recreation Department will be assisting with the ride. Kids and Seniors (65+) wearing a helmet will receive a certificate for a free ice cream cone.

Touch A Truck & Usborne Book Fair

Saturday • 6/1 • 10:00am – Noon
Winterset Public Library

Climb. Explore. Learn. Touch! The Winterset Public Library will be kicking off summer reading with Touch a Truck and a Book Fair this Saturday morning. Kids can visit the library and sign up for summer reading, and then touch, and safely explore their favorite big trucks and heavy machinery, as well as meet the personnel who protect, serve, and build the Winterset community. Then head inside to see Lisa Carstens from Usborne Books & More® with some wonderful books to add to your collection. Half of the proceeds from the sale will go to fund children’s books for library. Bring a camera for fun photo opportunities and take home some new treasures for summer reading.

Live Music — Jesse and the Medicine Men

Saturday • June 1 • 7:00 – 10:00
Covered Bridges Winery

Weather permitting, Jesse and the Medicine Men will be performing outside this Saturday at Covered Bridges Winery so bring your lawn chairs or a blanket (maybe both if it continues to be cool). If we have more rain (sigh), it will happen inside instead. There is a $5 cover and food will be available for purchase starting at 6:30pm. It sounds like Jesse’s musical style is rooted in classic country and rock-n-roll.

Floral Screen Print & Watercolor Class

Sunday • June 2 • 1:00pm
Winterset Art Center

Participants ages 12 and up will be screen printing lines of floral images, as a pattern, then using watercolor techniques to detail the finished piece. This will make a lovely wall hanging for anyone.  Save your spot and register today!

Community Band Lawn Chair Night

Thursdays • June 6th • 6:00pm meal, 7:00 pm music
Courthouse Lawn

Like apple pie with ice cream, fresh lemonade, and fireworks on the Fourth of July, there’s just something quintessentially small-town summer about sitting outside and listening to live music where the grown-ups chat between songs and the kids run off to the edges and play or dance along. The Winterset Community band will be making this happen at Lawn Chair Night concerts on the courthouse lawn every Thursday through July 11th. Each week food is available for purchase through a different community group and the Winterset Community Band regales listeners with their talent. On Thursday, June 6th, the VFW Auxiliary will be serving beef burgers, chips, water, ice cream and other desserts. Bring your lawn chair or a blanket and come enjoy a fun evening with fellow community members!

Friday • June 7 • 5:00 pm
Meet at City Park

Meet up at the city park  on Friday, June 7th, at 5:00pm for the Bike Ride Around Town before the First Friday Concert Series. The ride will follow the sharrows (bicycle pavement markings) around Winterset and is a 7 mile route that you can ride as many times as you like. Maps of the shared roadway route will be provided. When you end back at the city, there will be food, drink and live music so you can wind down!
