Weekend in Winterset, Feb. 2-4

Congratulations to all who won awards at last night’s Madison County Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet!

Lynette Judd took home the honor of Citizen of the Year for 2017. So well deserved for all the good she’s done for Madison County children and families through C.R.I.S.P.!

This Weekend

The Winterset Ice Rink, located near the city tennis court and Aquatic Center on West Jefferson Street, re-opened on January 31st and will remain open as the weather permits.

Piece Works Quilt Shop and Ben Franklin are participating in a well-known bi-annual event, the Southern Iowa Shop Hop “Spring Fling,” February 1st through the 3rd. Piece Works is offering a 20% discount on all fabrics cut from the bolt as well as other store specials, door prizes, and free patterns. They’ll also be giving away the pattern for the Posie quilt pictured below. Ben Franklin also has 20% off all bolted fabric through Saturday, February 3rd.

While you’re out shopping for fabric, take note that Saturday, February 3rd is National Sew Day for Quilts of Valor in 2018. If you’re interested in getting involved in this movement with a group or on your own, inquire at Piece Works Quilt Shop, Ben Franklin, or the Iowa Quilt Museum, or contact any member of the Covered Bridge Quilters.

The Winterset Library, who won the Customer Service of the Year award at last night’s Madison County Chamber Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet (woo hoo!!) is offering a series of programs in February to help protect consumers. And speaking of The Iowa Theater, you can see Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (PG-13) this Friday, Saturday or Sunday, with the 2017 award-winning movie The Shape of Water (R) opening on February 8.
